Indian Girl having a meltdown in Dublin Airport, Ireland #257

Calling all wanderlust newbies! Buckle up, because in 2019, I had the incredible chance to visit our customer site in Ireland โ€“ all on the company dime! It was my first trip abroad, ever. Can you say butterflies? (Excitement kind, not airplane kind, thankfully!) With my current budget, traveling internationally seemed like a faraway dream. But hey, sometimes the universe throws you a curveball in the best way possible, and this trip was definitely one of those moments. I had so much to share, but last year’s summary only captured a snippet. So, get ready for the full story!

Durga Puja hustle! While everyone was celebrating in West Bengal (including me, with a side of paperwork!), things were getting a little hectic on the visa application front. Travel cancellations were flying left and right, and with nerves jangling like puja dhak beats, I decided to keep this under wraps โ€“ except for my awesomely supportive family and the two work colleagues who became my visa application gurus. Of course, a few folks at work were bummed I wasn’t spilling the beans, but hey, let’s just say keeping it mum was the best strategy for my sanity (and hopefully, a successful visa application!)

The Big Day! Forget my usual 7-day-trip-home packing frenzy, this time, organization was key. It was about to be the longest flight of my life, ever! Ditching the body-hugging jeans (hello, discomfort!), I opted for comfy clothes that were basically pajamas-but-better. Yes, my airport look was definitely unique. While some women go full glam for their travels, I was all about comfort and confidence. Think cozy chic with a side of long braid envy for my fellow passengers.

The Flight from Hyderabad:

Hyderabad Airport Odyssey: Domestic Diva Goes International! Okay, so I admit it โ€“ navigating airports has never been my forte. Stick me in the domestic arrivals/departures and I’m golden. International departures, on the other hand? Whole new ball game! My poor Uber driver almost ended up at the wrong terminal thanks to my limited app skills. (Thank goodness for last-minute heroics!) Let’s just say navigating the check-in process felt like a maze with extra counters. Security was another adventure โ€“ deciphering the order was like solving a puzzle. But hey, observe, adapt, and overcome, right? Immigration was a rollercoaster. The officer went full drill sergeant on the person before me, then surprised me with a Bengali greeting! Turns out, he used to be stationed in West Bengal, and seeing my address sparked his newly acquired language skills. Pretty cool, right?

Gate drama and delightful distractions: Finding my gate felt like cracking a code โ€“ the information screens seemed to be speaking a different language this time around. Guess the airport gremlins were messing with the signage! Luckily, my trusty observation skills (honed from years of navigating awkward social situations) and a friendly fellow passenger came to the rescue. Settled into my seat with an entire hour to spare, I indulged in a pre-flight ritual of teacake redemption (finally getting to that forgotten snack!), a FaceTime call with my family (because what’s a trip without some serious bragging rights?), and a front-row seat to the adorable chaos of a toddler on the loose. Watching that little one run circles around her (possibly not-so-thrilled) mom was pure entertainment!

Etihad Escape! Boarding the Etihad plane felt like entering a whole new world โ€“ compared to domestic flights, it was like a palace in the sky! Three whole columns of seats? Neck pillows AND blankets? (Seriously, where were these on my domestic journeys?!) I snagged a glorious aisle seat (thank the travel gods!), and settled in next to a fellow Indian passenger. The flight was packed with mostly Indian travelers, all headed to Dubai, a cool 4.5-hour hop away. My mission: catch some serious shut-eye for the entire journey.

Cabin Tetris Fail: The only snag in my sleep plan? My backpack. This thing was practically a carry-on suitcase, and the under-seat compartment barely swallowed it whole. That left me with about as much legroom as a contortionist. My neighbor, bless his heart, was also sporting an oversized bag and angling to shove it in the overhead compartment โ€“ needless to say, his strategy backfired spectacularly!

International Crew & Global Grub: The cabin crew on this flight were a United Nations of friendly faces โ€“ and hey, surprise! Turns out guys can totally be flight attendants too. Who knew, right? (Apparently, past-me did not get the memo!) Food time came around before landing, and the air hostess announced the “Hindi meal” options with a smile. (Funny story โ€“ Hindi is a language, not a culinary course, but hey, the thought was sweet!) My vegetarian spread was a delightful international mishmash: a cute portion of rice, a chapati, a tiny but delicious gulab jamun for dessert, and a combo of dal and curry that hit the spot. Oh, and don’t forget the crackers and butter for some pre-dinner nibbling. Honestly, the food was surprisingly good โ€“ airplane meals have come a long way! The beverage selection included wine, tea, and coffee, but my personal request for water seemed to get lost in translation with the male flight attendant.

Transit in Dubai:

Dubai Touches Down! Touchdown in Dubai at 2:30 IST โ€“ knowing my family was wide awake, eagerly awaiting my arrival. (No sleep for the excited fam, right?) My phone practically came alive the moment it connected to the airport Wi-Fi โ€“ a symphony of incoming calls! First impressions of Dubai Airport? Long security lines โ€“ and yes, believe it or not, they even asked for socks off! (Clearly, they take shoe hygiene seriously here.) My mission: locate luggage and gate, stat! Thankfully, for an infrequent, slightly clumsy traveler like myself, finding the gate was a breeze. (Maybe jet lag gives you superpowers?)

The Restroom Revolution: Now, the restroom situation was a bit of a culture clash. Back home in India, restroom lines are more of a free-for-all โ€“ whoever grabs a door first gets priority. Here in Dubai, it was all about orderly queues. One person per stall, nice and simple. Fair enough, I thought โ€“ gotta adapt to the local customs!

Dubai to Dublin: A Global Glimpse! With a quick freshen-up under my belt, it was time to board the flight to Dublin. This leg of the journey was a real United Nations of travelers โ€“ folks from all corners of the world! Right in front of me was a multi-generational family, seemingly spanning three whole generations. The grandparents were so youthful, I did a double-take at first โ€“ they easily could have passed for parents! The younger kids were glued to their tablets, while the adults chatted amongst themselves. One little one in a stroller was hilariously monching on some McNuggets โ€“ a sight you definitely wouldn’t see in India, where toddlers are kept away from fast food. In just a short amount of time, I was surrounded by people from so many different cultures, all with their own unique ways of interacting. But hey, one thing remained constant โ€“ the universal appeal of a good floor-rolling session! Kids everywhere, it seems, are masters of the tantrum tumble, regardless of nationality. And speaking of international connections, the South Asian couple in front of me had me stumped. They were chatting away in a language that sounded oddly familiar, yet I couldn’t quite place it. The mystery continues!

Braids & Boarding Blues: Behind me, two girls with cornrows stole the show. I’d seen this hairstyle a million times on TV, but seeing it in person was a whole new experience. The intricate braids were like works of art โ€“ major braiding skills on display! Just as I was mesmerized by their hair, boarding began. This time, they announced zones instead of the usual front/back line system I was used to from my previous flights. Looks like every journey brings a new airport adventure!

Flight to Dublin:

Dublin Dreams & In-Flight Entertainment: Another glorious aisle seat awaited me, this time with an English couple as my companions. The wife snagged the window seat for some sky-gazing, while the husband settled in next to me. This time, boredom was no match for the trusty in-flight entertainment system โ€“ a tablet and headphones, hallelujah! While I opted for some shut-eye initially, I eventually woke up mid-flight, ready for some entertainment. My neighbor was engrossed in The Simpsons, which sparked a mini in-flight movie marathon for me. (Who can resist a good dose of Springfield shenanigans?) But the real challenge came next โ€“ figuring out where to plug in those headphones. My fumbling was interrupted by my seatmate, who pointed out the most unexpected location: under the armrest! (Mystery solved!) With that hurdle cleared, I settled in for a delightful viewing of Toy Story 4. Double the food this time around โ€“ a tasty sandwich to start and a decent three-course meal near the end of the flight. Legroom woes? Not a chance! Those eight hours practically flew by in a comfortable haze of movies, munchies, and merriment.

Heading for Athlone:

Immigration Hurdle & Dublin Do-Gooder: Uh oh, immigration queues! Even with all my paperwork prepped and ready, a clumsy fumble sent everything scattering to the floor during my chat with the officer. Let’s just say she wasn’t exactly impressed with my act of document disarray. Thankfully, the process itself was swift, and soon I was at the baggage carousel, ready to reunite with my luggage.

Next stop: finding the exit and snagging a bus to Athlone. Huge thanks to my awesome office senior for the clear instructions on the route and bus info โ€“ a lifesaver for this navigation newbie! The only snag? Booking tickets and wrangling all my bags at the same time proved to be a bit of a challenge. But just when I was starting to feel overwhelmed, a kind soul stepped in. This amazing stranger volunteered to keep an eye on my luggage while I sorted out a few things โ€“ a true hero in a time of travel chaos!

Bus Blues & Dublin Bliss: Missed the bus by ten whole minutes. Looks like I had an hour to chill at the airport before the next one. No worries though, because booking a ticket turned out to be a breeze โ€“ way easier than navigating an ATM, even for a tech newbie like me. The bus finally rolled in, and after strategically loading my luggage first (gotta love those priority bags!), I snagged the coveted window seat. Score! A quick scan of the onboard screen revealed the upcoming stops, times, and even the temperature โ€“ fancy! (Seriously, Ireland, you guys spoil your bus passengers with Wi-Fi?) Speaking of spoiling, a quick FaceTime call with Mom was in order โ€“ a virtual tour of Dublin in real-time! The city itself was a vision โ€“ clean streets, light traffic, perfect for a video call. The bus ride became a scenic adventure as we meandered through the countryside, rolling hills dotted with farms, horses, and all sorts of adorable animals. Exhaustion? Not a chance! The excitement was keeping me wide-eyed. A quick text to my pick-up person confirmed everything, and before I knew it, we were pulling into the stop.

Home Away From Home: My destination for the next two weeks? A cozy 2-BHK flat, shared with some fellow Indian software engineers โ€“ like a home away from home, but with an Irish twist! This ingenious entrepreneur had turned renting out his apartment to Indian visitors into a business โ€“ a brilliant idea for fostering a sense of community for newcomers like myself.

Flat Check-In & Cultural Quirks: My two flatmates were MIA when I arrived, so after a quick freshen-up and a bite to eat, I unpacked my things and settled in. One interesting twist โ€“ turns out I’d be sharing a bed with another roommate. Unique living situation, but hey, all part of the cultural exchange experience, right?

The temperature inside was surprisingly cozy, thanks to the wall-to-wall carpeting and heaters in every room โ€“ a welcome change from the brisk Dublin air. (Fans? Not a necessity here, it seemed.) The kitchen offered a glimpse into local living โ€“ an induction oven instead of a gas stove. The dishwasher and oven, however, seemed to be gathering dust โ€“ guess short-term residents weren’t too keen on experimenting with unfamiliar appliances.

The bathroom was another cultural adjustment. No bidet spray, which took a bit of getting used to โ€“ even a luxurious bathtub couldn’t quite make up for that! But hey, the price of the flat was unbeatable, and everything else seemed to be in working order. So, minor inconveniences aside, it was a win-win!

Sealed Shut & Silent Serenity: The windows seemed like a mystery โ€“ permanently sealed or just holding a grudge against fresh air? (Guess chilly Dublin winters make people appreciate central heating a tad too much!) One thing was for sure โ€“ the silence in the apartment was deafening. Pin-drop quiet, even though we were right on a road! It was a strange sensation โ€“ peaceful yet unsettling at the same time. Back home in India, silence is a rare commodity, especially in my bustling city. Here, the absence of car honking felt almost surreal โ€“ is that even a thing?

Roommate Rendezvous! Finally meeting my flatmates was a breath of fresh air โ€“ say hello to Sheena, the tech whiz on a long-term stay searching for a new haven, and Bhakti, my soon-to-be roomie who, despite being two years my senior, juggled work as a coordinator and motherhood (with a two-year-old bundle of energy, no less!). Even though making friends can be a challenge for me, these two lovely ladies couldn’t have been more welcoming. Here’s the interesting part: Sheena, a Marathi powerhouse, Bhakti, a Telugu native from South India, and myself, a Bengali girl โ€“ a mini India in our very own flat! Despite the differences in our native tongues and food preferences, English became our bridge for communication, and I had a feeling this was the start of a fun and multicultural friendship.

Bhakti took the lead in the kitchen, she used to make lunch box for both of us. Sheena on the other other hand used to do her own stuff. Bhakti and I became close as we both came for 2 weeks.

Meeting Clients and office environment:

Morning Routines & Euro Adventures: The Irish work life meant catching the bus by 8:00 am for an 8:30 am start โ€“ a whole two hours earlier than my usual 10:00 am back in India! This called for some serious time management skills, but the routine soon became second nature. Mornings were a well-oiled machine โ€“ breakfast, shower, getting ready, and the all-important lunch prep. Speaking of lunch, Bhakti’s culinary skills were a lifesaver, while I tackled the packing and tidying up duties. One thing that took some getting used to? Paying the bus driver with a single Euro coin. Talk about a culture shock! Back home in India, a single Rupee wouldn’t even buy you a piece of candy, let alone a bus ticket. But hey, that’s the beauty of travel โ€“ experiencing the world in all its quirky (and cost-effective!) ways.

First Day Fun & Friendly Faces: My first day started with a warm welcome โ€“ my manager himself came to greet me! While I didn’t see him much after that (laid-back management style, perhaps?), the overall office vibe was fantastic. The building itself was on the smaller side, but that just added to the friendly atmosphere. Adjusting to the work culture here was a breeze โ€“ sure, it was different, but definitely not overwhelming. The best part? Everyone was incredibly welcoming. Finding my desk on that first day was a bit of an adventure, but my helpful colleagues were there to guide the way. (Seriously, couldn’t have asked for a nicer bunch!) There were occasional challenges understanding some accents, but that was a minor hurdle in the grand scheme of things.

The work was going fine in office.

A Taste of Ireland & Halloween Treats: The office cafeteria offered a true taste of Ireland โ€“ a spud lover’s paradise! Two to three out of the five main dishes usually featured potatoes, and let me tell you, as a huge potato enthusiast, I was in heaven. On Halloween, things got even more interesting. The cafeteria transformed into a wonderland of sweet treats โ€“ so many delicious options, it was impossible to resist! Lunchbox? Ditched in a heartbeat. My mission: sample as many goodies as possible (research purposes, of course โ€“ I had to determine if our supermarket’s cinnamon buns held a candle to these!). While everything wasn’t exactly free (insert sad face), the day of sugary exploration was totally worth it.

Conspiracy and Drama:

Hitting the Ground Running in Ireland: Ireland threw a lot at me right from the start โ€“ adapting to a new work environment with limited initial instructions, and (let’s not forget) some not-so-friendly Irish weather! (Those chills can really knock you for a loop, especially when you’re prone to catching colds.) Landing in Dublin, I was already battling a fever and headache โ€“ not exactly the ideal way to begin. On top of that, there was the daily routine to juggle โ€“ office work, grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning. To add another layer to the mix, my manager wanted me to delve into the world of technical support for those two weeks. Talk about a whirlwind experience!

Double Duty & Dublin Discoveries (Almost): Balancing work and home life in Ireland turned out to be a juggling act! After whipping up dinner and tackling chores, I’d be back at my laptop for those customer support calls, which sometimes stretched until 3 am. (Talk about dedication!) The next day, it was back to the early bird routine โ€“ 8 am bus, 8:30 am office start, and the cycle continued. Since I was new in the city, I wasn’t too comfortable venturing out alone, so my options for flexible work hours were limited. Unfortunately, this packed schedule took a toll on my health, and I ended up feeling even under the weather.

Weekends, which are typically prime sightseeing time for visitors, were designated for work by my manager. The ironic part? The workload could have easily been tackled during the week, but due to the other team’s absence, things stalled anyway. Adding to the pressure, there seemed to be some resentment from my teammates โ€“ perhaps they felt I was given a special opportunity with the on-site visit. While that might have been true, it came at the cost of a hectic schedule and missed chances to explore Dublin.

Weekend Plans & Unexpected Twists: Things got interesting when my old manager, who had recently moved to Ireland with his family, expressed his enthusiasm to plan a weekend getaway for Bhakti and me. While we were initially excited to explore Dublin ourselves (before the weekend work assignment came up), his offer was tempting. However, as the actual day approached, things took an unexpected turn. He ended up picking up only Bhakti, leaving me to manage my workload. Apparently, my current manager had advised against including me due to the work situation. Bhakti, understandably surprised by this turn of events, filled me in on the details after her trip. While the whole situation was a bit strange, it only solidified the bond between Bhakti and me. We both found the sudden change of plans odd, but hey, it just meant more Dublin adventures to plan together in the future!

Weekends in Dublin: While Saturdays and Sundays meant catching up on work for me, Bhakti, my awesome roommate, used those days to explore Dublin to the fullest, ticking off all the sights and shopping destinations on her list. FOMO? Not a chance! We had a great system โ€“ I cheered her on from the flat while she documented her adventures with photos and stories. Holidays like Diwali and Halloween were a bit different. Celebrating Diwali with a candlelit ceremony wasn’t possible in the flat, but hey, that just meant a virtual celebration with loved ones back home (bonus points for the exotic time zone!). As for Halloween, after-work parties weren’t really my scene, but the excitement from seeing Bhakti and my colleagues dressed up was contagious. Work calls from India, while not always urgent, did require some attention. The good news? My teammates were always happy to help out if something needed immediate attention. Speaking of my previous manager, his constant texts to Bhakti did feel a bit intrusive, and it was clear Bhakti was politely deflecting his attempts at separate plans. But hey, that just solidified our bond โ€“ we had each other’s backs in this new environment.

Workload, Woes & Dublin Delights: The workload in Ireland started to feel a bit overwhelming at times, and there were moments when I questioned my place on the team. Let’s just say the pressure hit a peak one night, and a good cry really helped release the tension. (Hey, even superheroes need to vent sometimes!) Thankfully, a glorious bank holiday arrived, offering a much-needed respite. My manager, bless her heart, couldn’t schedule work on a national holiday โ€“ finally, a chance to explore Dublin! Sheena, Bhakti, and I embarked on a fantastic walking tour, soaking up the city’s atmosphere and ticking off must-see sights. While Athlone itself might be light on tourist attractions (though the abundance of bars does offer a glimpse into local culture!), Dublin did not disappoint. We even attempted a visit to the famous Sean’s Bar, though unfortunately, we arrived just as closing time loomed. While I wasn’t about to indulge in a celebratory drink (especially in front of these relatively new friends!), the lively music and atmosphere brought back a fun memory โ€“ that time I went to a bar and had a blast without a drop of alcohol. It made me miss my old friends, the ones who embraced my introverted nature and gave me space to adjust at my own pace. Here’s to hoping I can build similar friendships here in Ireland!

Visiting Dublin:

Dublin Double Take & Streetside Serenade: Our second Dublin adventure, this time with colleagues, was another delightful exploration! Trinity University and St. Stephen’s Green were fascinating stops, but the real magic was simply wandering the streets. While I wasn’t exactly snapping photos left and right (oops!), the whole experience was a feast for the senses. As evening approached, the city transformed into a vibrant stage for street performers. Magicians, musicians, and singers of all stripes filled the air with their talents โ€“ some clearly honing their craft (perhaps their roommates wouldn’t appreciate impromptu concerts at home!), while others were seasoned performers. Let’s just say the quality ranged from earworms to masterpieces, but the overall vibe was infectious! The diverse crowd, the music, the energy โ€“ it was a melting pot of cultures under the Dublin sky. We covered some serious ground that day, and while my colleague’s shopping excursion tested my patience a bit (retail therapy isn’t for everyone!), the overall experience was a positive one.

Dublin Delights & Pastry Dreams: Wandering the streets of Dublin on our second visit was a sensory overload in the best way possible! Butler’s Chocolates, tempting pastry shops, and gelato galore โ€“ my sweet tooth was in overdrive, but with no fellow pastry adventurer in sight, I had to resist the urge to indulge (maybe next time!). We also squeezed in a visit to a castle, which, well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly awe-inspiring. Even my colleagues agreed it was a bit underwhelming. Interestingly, Dublin itself evoked a strange familiarity โ€“ a city I’d never been to before, yet it felt strangely comfortable, like walking through a beloved neighborhood. The sunny weather, with a refreshing breeze thrown in for good measure, added to the charm. Finally, after all that exploring, I rewarded myself with a steaming cup of hot chocolate on the way back โ€“ the perfect way to warm up and end a fantastic day in Dublin!

Shopping and stuff:

Grocery Adventures & Budget Savvy: Hitting the grocery stores in Dublin was a delight! So many new options to explore, from tempting pastries in the bakery section (major win!) to a wide variety of vegetables (though, yes, a bit on the pricey side โ€“ gotta budget for those cravings!). I knew exactly what treats I wanted to try โ€“ ice cream and chocolates, of course! (Who can resist?) While clothes and bags weren’t on my shopping list this time, my roommate went all out โ€“ shampoos, oils, clothes for her family, and even a stash of fancy chocolates! She was a little surprised by my light shopping basket, but hey, everyone has their own budgeting style, right? After all, it’s important to find a balance that works for you.

Returning India:

Farewells & Final Flight: Packing on Thursday brought a bittersweet mix of emotions โ€“ excitement for home, and a touch of sadness to say goodbye to Dublin and the people I’d met. After work on Friday, I took a well-deserved break before heading to a colleague’s place for a delicious farewell dinner. Saying goodbye to everyone was tough, but the memories made would definitely last. Bhakti had a different flight time, so she was off to enjoy a final hurrah with Sheena and some others. As for me, an early morning flight meant catching the last bus out that night. Standing at the sparsely populated bus stop with a slight fever (yuck!), my anxiety started to climb โ€“ especially when the bus rolled in an hour late! (Guess Murphy’s Law applies even to public transportation!) With no other options, I boarded, a silent prayer on my lips for a smooth journey. This time, the ride was shorter, but sleep evaded me completely. The bus driver, bless his heart, kept the mood light with singalongs and passenger announcements (even if most passengers were snoozing!). While it wasn’t the most comfortable way to travel, my determination to reach the airport on time kept me going. And hey, it made for a rather unique travel story!

A Long Night at Dublin Airport: Navigating the late-night Dublin Airport proved a bit of a challenge โ€“ the emptiness and cryptic signs made finding the right terminal and gate a little more time-consuming than expected. But hey, perseverance paid off, and I finally landed a comfy seat near the check-in counter, ready for the next adventure. A minor hitch arose during check-in โ€“ they forgot to print my second boarding pass (Dubai to Hyderabad), mentioning I could collect it at the gate. While a slight inconvenience, it meant a chance to relax and unwind a bitโ€ฆ perhaps a bit too much, as sunrise peeked through the windows just as boarding commenced. The unexpected delay wasn’t ideal, and I did start to feel a little under the weather. (Travel gremlins, I swear!) Knowing my family back home would only worry (and maybe even magnify my own anxieties!), I decided to tackle this hurdle myself. Here’s to hoping for a smooth flight to Hyderabad!

Overwhelmed in Dublin: The stress of the entire trip finally came crashing down at the Dublin airport. Exhaustion, anxiety โ€“ it all hit me at once, and tears welled up uncontrollably. Sitting there, I realized I had never cried in public before, not even in front of loved ones. In that moment, social norms and embarrassment melted away. All I craved was a hug, a human connection to ease the overwhelming emotions. A little girl nearby kept glancing my way, perhaps even mentioning it to her mother. While Dubliners are known for respecting personal space, a part of me wished someone had reached out, offered a kind word or gesture. But that day, solace came from within. Taking a deep breath, I wiped away my tears, determined to face whatever challenges awaited.

Boarding Jitters & A Smooth Flight: A final hurdle emerged at boarding โ€“ my second boarding pass (Dubai to Hyderabad) was nowhere to be found. Feeling a familiar pang of anxiety, I explained the situation to the staff. Thankfully, they assured me they’d handle it on the flight itself. While the wait caused some pre-flight jitters, the flight attendant eventually provided the missing ticket, and with that, a wave of relief washed over me. The rest of the journey is a bit blurry โ€“ fueled by some much-needed sleep (fever finally under control!), and a dose of Lego Movie 2. Landing in Hyderabad, even though it wasn’t a reunion with family, felt like a homecoming. Back in my dorm room, a delicious meal and a whopping 7-8 hours of sleep (jet lag, anyone?) sealed the deal โ€“ I was finally back on solid ground.

My Final Thought:

Unexpected Lessons & International Triumphs: Who knew that international travel, a prospect that once filled me with trepidation (even domestic flights were nerve-wracking!), would turn into such a rewarding experience? This trip pushed me way outside my comfort zone โ€“ striking up conversations with strangers, a feat that would normally leave me speechless! The people in Ireland were fantastic โ€“ friendly, polite, and sometimes apologetic for things I couldn’t even understand! (Maybe it’s just their endearing nature?) Even at the office, a senior colleague, despite his position and experience, surprised me with his warmth and generosity โ€“ a daily chocolate or sweet offering became a highlight of my day! (Hey, some things transcend shyness!) And let’s not forget the amazing selection of chocolates I discovered in the supermarkets โ€“ a true chocoholic’s dream! This trip was a journey of self-discovery, proving that sometimes, the biggest adventures lie just beyond our comfort zones. Here’s to more international triumphs in the future!

Ireland Adventure: A Land of Contrasts: My time in Ireland was an eye-opening adventure! While certain aspects took some adjusting to โ€“ the lack of jet sprays being a prime example (tissue just doesn’t cut it for someone raised in India, and I learned I’m not alone in that across Asia!), the experience was overwhelmingly positive. The food scene was decent, and the weather, well, let’s just say it encouraged cozy nights in (perfect for catching up on reading or movies!). Despite these cultural differences, I’m already dreaming of future visits to Western countries. While permanent relocation might not be in the cards, there’s so much to explore and learn from these diverse cultures. Here’s to embracing new experiences and expanding my horizons!
