Growing up and growing old- My Thoughts on Aging… #322

One ordinary day, while combing my hair, I noticed silver streaks at the back of my ear. Grey hairs were forming communities on my head, challenging my perspective on aging. In my early twenties, a few grey hairs were barely noticeable, but now they stood proudly, prompting me to reevaluate my approach.

From Grey Hairs to Wisdom: A Candid Exploration of Growing Older

My battle against grey hairs unveiled broader reflections on aging. Our bodies constantly change, and growing up and growing old are intertwined phases of life. Instead of dreading aging, I began questioning societal beauty norms and embracing the natural evolution of life.

The Skin Care Dilemma

Falling for “anti-aging” marketing, I used face creams for years, yet wrinkles persisted. Shifting my mindset, I now treat them as moisturizers, understanding that aging is inevitable. Navigating the beauty industry’s obsession with flawless skin, I advocate for a simple, practical skincare routine over complex rituals.

Weight Struggles and Metabolism Changes

Weight fluctuations marked my journey—from teenage heaviness to a struggle to gain healthy weight in college. Despite conscious efforts post-gallstone surgery, maintaining weight became a challenge. The evolving metabolism and desk job impacts led to a realization: hitting the gym might be the key to achieving desired results.

Eye Health Challenges

With poor eyesight in my genes, my eyesight worsened over the years. Despite following professional advice, the decline seemed unstoppable. The journey of aging unveiled unexpected challenges, such as poor eyesight and unanticipated toe-nail issues.

The Cursed Toe-nail Surprise

Unpleasant surprises, like curled toe-nails causing pain, became a cruel reminder of aging. While unexpected, they coexist with positive transformations. Despite physical changes, I gained knowledge, maturity, and a better understanding of myself and others.

Embracing the Journey

Life is a journey, and aging is an inherent part of it. While visible signs of aging vary, acceptance of the natural process becomes paramount. Money and care may delay aging’s visibility, but embracing reality and finding comfort in the natural phenomena ultimately lead to a fulfilling journey of self-discovery and acceptance.
