March Medley: Harmony in Chaos is the Theme! #327

Can you believe we’ve already breezed through the first quarter of 2024? It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating New Year’s Eve. My internal clock is still stuck a few months back, so I’m pretty much still in January mode. Here’s how I spent my March 2024.

Studies

Let’s talk studies. This month, my courses cranked up the intensity with a whopping 4 quizzes and 2 assignments. One of my professors seemed to have mastered the art of disappearing act, leaving us hanging every other week. Not exactly ideal for our learning journey, but hey, we made the most of it by sneaking into an extra class from another course and relishing those rare free weekend mornings.

Studying for quizzes this semester was like navigating a maze. In one course, we scoured the depths of the internet, books, and class notes, while in another, our professor hit us with pop quizzes to keep us on our toes during lectures. Admirable tactic, but let’s just say it made dragging myself out of bed for early morning classes after only 5 hours of shut-eye feel like a Herculean task.

And let’s not forget about the assignments. They kept me on my toes the entire month. While I definitely learned a ton, there were moments of frustration due to the sheer breadth of the subject matter, the perpetual lack of time, and, let’s be honest, a few know-it-alls in my class. But hey, that’s all part of the journey, right?

In summary, it’s been a whirlwind of a month, filled with challenges and triumphs. Here’s to hoping the next quarter brings a bit more balanceโ€ฆ and maybe a few more hours of sleep.

Work

I’ve been knee-deep in a project at work that’s been pushing me to learn new skills on the fly. With my ongoing higher education in the same field, I figured I’d seamlessly apply what I’ve been studying to my current gig. But alas, it seems patience is the name of the game.

The workload this month had me feeling the pressure, but oddly enough, I found solace in the chaos. Each assignment was like a puzzle, demanding a fresh approach and forcing me to stretch beyond my comfort zone. Looking back, I can’t help but wish I had faced such challenges earlier in my career. They would’ve undoubtedly shaped me in profound ways. But dwelling on what could’ve been won’t get me anywhere. Instead, I’m focusing on squeezing every drop of opportunity out of the present moment.

Health

Family life hit a bit of a rough patch this month. A casual remark from my mom, combined with the weight of everything else I was juggling, sent me spiraling. There were days when I felt like a bystander, watching time slip through my fingers while my to-do list grew longer and longer. Taking action felt impossible.

Loneliness has always been a lingering presence, but this month, it hit me like a ton of bricks. The mental strain and overwhelming stress began to take a toll on my physical health. For about two weeks straight, I battled with feverish spells, a pervasive lack of energy, and a motivation drought. It felt like there was an elephant perched on my chest, making every breath a struggle.

Social Life

My social life kicked into gear this month, a welcome change from the quieter months at the start of 2024. I found myself engaging in a myriad of conversations, some uplifting and others downright draining.

One particular night stands out vividly: the eve of an exam, I reached out to a friend for some assignment guidance, and before I knew it, we were deep in conversation for hours. In hindsight, probably not the wisest move given my exam prep was lagging, but in that moment of isolation and heaviness, reconnecting with someone who shared my values and experiences lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.

On a more reflective note, nostalgia crept in, prompting me to reminisce about friendships past and the carefree spirit I once embodied. It’s funny how memories have a way of flooding back, reminding us of who we used to be.

Special Mention:

Amidst the whirlwind of life’s chaos, a special highlight emerged: my cousin and his wife paid us a visit, gracing our home with their presence for a delightful two-week stay. It was only the second time I had the pleasure of meeting my sister-in-law, as the last visit was overshadowed by my own preoccupations. This time around, I made it a point to engage more, and boy, was it worth it.

Evening strolls and career conversations with my cousin became cherished moments, offering a welcome break from the daily grind. And getting to know my sister-in-law revealed her experiences and challenges of married life, fostering a deeper connection.

One day, my dad and cousin surprised us with biriyani from a renowned joint, treating us all to a mouthwatering feast.

Final Note:

Reflecting on the month, I acknowledge areas for improvement. I missed out on simple pleasures like walks and self-care rituals, and my home could use a bit of organizing. But perhaps the biggest lesson learned is the importance of nurturing friendships. Even amidst struggles, the support and positivity from friends can light up even the darkest days, reminding me that there’s always hope in life’s journey.

That’s all for March. 2024. See you again in my next blog! ๐Ÿ™‚
